Where to Eat Gluten Free at Disneyland

Traveling with a food intolerance or allergy can be nerve-racking. The stress of knowing where to go and what you can eat is not fun. Luckily, if you are heading to the parks they have allergy friendly options and I can help you navigate where to eat gluten free at Disneyland.

If you’re wondering what food tolerances I have, I am gluten, soy, tree nut and diary free. Yes, it was a big lifestyle change but surprisingly manageable!

I was recently at Disneyland and spent one day in Disneyland Park and another in California Adventure. To be honest, quick service gluten free options at Disneyland are slim compared to Disney World, especially in Disneyland Park. It was a little more difficult to find gluten free meals than I anticipated.

The good news is, I found some great meals and snacks that are gluten free at Disneyland! I even found a new favorite. I also will share a quick service place you might want to skip.

Here is a short list of where to eat gluten free at Disneyland:

1. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

Gluten free Endorian Roasted Chicken Salad at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

This is a quick service spot in Star Wars Galaxy Edge where I ordered the Endorian Roasted Chicken salad which is gluten free! This meal is my favorite quick service meal I have had at a Disney park.

The Endorian salad has chicken, mixed greens, roasted seasonal vegetables (mine contained squash), quinoa, pumpkin seeds and green curry ranch. Now, normally I would not have had the ranch but this salad was also listed in under the “milk allergy” section that also includes the ranch. So I took a gamble and ordered the salad with ranch. The dressing tasted very light, rather than creamy, so it appears they made a dressing that could fit several allergies. But if you feel uncomfortable risking it like I did, you can walk in an order and they will let you speak directly with a chef!

The salad was clean, tasted fresh, healthy and hearty. After dinner, I wished I had gone back and ordered it again. If you’re looking for something healthier so you can eat an extra dole whip, then this is the meal for you. This leads us to the best snack…

2. Dole Whip

This may be one of the most popular treats at any of the Disney parks. What’s great is everyone can enjoy a dole whip because this snack is free of the top 8 allergens. Yes, you read that right! Dole whips are gluten free and despite how they look, they are also dairy free. The only flavor that is not dairy free is vanilla. The fruit flavors are fair game! Dole whip is a must try when you need to eat gluten free at Disneyland.

Drew and I shared a pineapple and raspberry swirl dole whip at the Tropical Hideaway. This is located in Adventureland in Disneyland park. Also, I found a bag of my favorite sriracha flavored Hippeas here. They are the perfect quick treat if you need to eat a gluten free snack at Disneyland. These chips are crispy with a great crunch and I typically always have a bag stored in my pantry. They cover top allergies as too!

3. Lamplight Lounge Lobster Nachos

Okay, I know paragraphs before this I told you I was dairy free. While at Pixar Pier in California Adventure I had dairy for the first time since April 2021 with the lobster nachos. Yes, they were delicious! And yes, I paid for it later. Sometimes, you have to learn things the hard way.

If you are gluten free at Disneyland the nachos are a popular meal choice. Take note for those who are soy free: in the picture above there is a side of cheese which contained 2% of soy lecithin the chef graciously put it on the side. If you are soy free, this may be your best option if you want to order the nachos.

The cookie on the left in the image above may have been another cause of my stomach distress but whew, it was worth it. The Incredicookie is gluten free but I have no idea if it was diary or soy free; if someone does, please leave a comment!

In my experience, gluten free cookies are either fantastic or dry and sad. The incredicookie is the perfect example of the former; it is delicious. I was pleasantly surprised! In the middle of the cookie is a blackberry jam which is the right amount of sweet. The only thing I recommend is to eat the cookie AFTER you ride the Incredicoaster.

You can find the gluten free Incredicookie, at the kiosk, right outside the Incredicoaster at Pixar Pier, in California Adventure Park.

5. Carthay Circle Lounge

As Drew and I were walking around California Adventure park, we saw a jazz band and Mickey and Minnie dancing in 1920’s outfits. It was too adorable to handle! But as we walked toward the music, we saw a lot of people sitting outside on the patio with beautiful cocktails in hand. We immediately looked the Carthay Circle Lounge up with in the Disneyland app and got on the waitlist. This was hands down my favorite spot to eat gluten free at Disneyland.

Once we took our seat on the patio, I told our wonderful server about my food intolerances and she let me know everything I could have. I ended up choosing the North African Roasted Organic Chicken breast, with turmeric rice and spicy harissa. My plate was completely cleaned by the end of the meal.

If you are looking for a nice adult beverage, good allergy friendly options, great ambience, I would highly recommend Carthay Circle Lounge.

6. Hungry Bear Restaurant

This was my least favorite meal of the trip and I didn’t even bother taking a picture of it. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. Drew and I had reservations at River Belle Terrace but when we asked to take a look at their allergy friendly menu, the only item on the list that was for a wheat allergy, was a tofu meal. I knew this would be a problem with my soy intolerance. The news was a bummer, but we decided to cancel this reservation and try a quick service location.

Looking through the Disneyland app, I see that the Hungry Bear Restaurant has a gluten free burger and fries option. We decided to rest after a long day at the park here and unfortunately, the burger was just okay. I believe there must be gluten in the sauce that comes on it, because the burger was served dry with no sauce.

Like I said earlier, if I had known, I would have gone back to Docking Bay in Galaxy’s Edge for the salad rather than get this burger. My recommendation is to skip this establishment and find another place to eat gluten free at Disneyland. I’m sure there is a better gluten free burger elsewhere in the park. I guess I’ll have to go back to the parks and find out where! 😃
